Almost any type of sports training usually involves muscle development to a greater or lesser extent. Still, sometimes hypertrophy is a goal in itself for some athletes, in which case specific routines are designed for that purpose, based mainly on strength training. One study shows that individuals with mutations in the PPARG gene tend to obtain more significant muscle hypertrophy, i.e., increased muscle development, due to sports training.
